Met Human. :II: Nature. levert Nightwish hun negende en meest ambitieuze studioplaat tot nu toe af. Het is een dubbelalbum dat de mensheid tegenover de natuur plaatst. Het eerste deel bevat negen nummers in de kenmerkende symfonische metalstijl van de band, waarin zware riffs en orkestrale bombast samenkomen met de veelzijdige zang van Floor Jansen. Het tweede deel is volledig instrumentaal en neemt de luisteraar mee op een grootse, orkestrale reis door de natuur, getiteld "All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World".

De muziekstijl is symphonic metal, waarbij de band zware gitaarpartijen combineert met weelderige orkestraties, Keltische folkinvloeden en filmische soundscapes.
