In 1998 onthulde Wu-Tang Clan-architect RZA zijn futuristische alter ego met het debuutalbum Bobby Digital in Stereo. De plaat is een filmische trip, doordrenkt met de voor hem kenmerkende grimmige producties, kungfu-samples en een conceptuele verhaallijn. Als de hedonistische Bobby Digital verkent RZA een wereld van afrofuturisme, blaxploitation en rauwe straatverhalen. Het resultaat is een van de meest excentrieke en invloedrijke soloprojecten uit de Wu-Tang catalogus. Dit album toont een andere, meer experimentele kant van de legendarische producer.

Het album valt binnen de East Coast Hip-Hop uit de jaren '90, met de onmiskenbare, sample-zware productiestijl die kenmerkend is voor de Wu-Tang Clan.
